Public school students enjoy open enrollment choice options, but many public school students in Anthem attend one of the Deer Valley Unified School District's highly rated schools, plus Anthem is home to several private and charter schools. Overall, Phoenix is home to some 325 public schools in 30 school districts.

A small sampling of higher education options in the Phoenix metro area includes Arizona State University, which has its main campus in Tempe, a Downtown Phoenix campus and an ASU West campus. The University of Arizona, whose main campus is in Tucson, has established a College of Medicine in Downtown Phoenix. 


The primary shopping destinations in or close to Anthem are Anthem Marketplace, Anthem Village Center and Outlets at Anthem, home to such outlet-oriented venues as Tommy Hilfiger, Van Heusen, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and many more. Easy freeway access means that Anthem residents can quickly get to any of the plethora of shopping destinations in Phoenix and Scottsdale.


Living in Anthem means you do need a car, but once you get into Downtown Phoenix, check out the Valley Metro Light Rail system which runs from Central Phoenix through Downtown Phoenix to Tempe (including to the ASU campus) and to Mesa in the east. Meanwhile, air-travelers appreciate that Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is easily accessible via the metro area's freeway system.

The estimated median household income in Anthem stands at $75,404, compared to the overall Phoenix median of $48,596. The median listing price of a home in Anthem is noted as $320,000 with a sales price of $290,000.


In 2009, Anthem had a workforce of 9,466 people of which 91 percent commuted outside of Anthem to work with a mean travel time to work of 26.1 minutes.
