Neighborhood Overview

Nestled in the foothills of the San Tan Mountains, San Tan Valley is one of Arizona's newest communities. Prior to 2009, residents of the area used Queen Creek mailing addresses before electing the name San Tan Valley for the area. San Tan Valley is home to nearly 87,000 residents and is situated in Pinal County, the second-fastest growing county in the country. Residents enjoy beautiful views of the desert landscape and have access to gorgeous desert hiking and walking trails.

However, it's when you leave home that you truly experience the wonder of San Tan Valley. School Report Card

Public school students in San Tan Valley are served by the J.O. Combs School District. Serving over 4,000 students in San Tan Valley and the surrounding areas, the district operates five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. All are located within the boundaries of San Tan Valley. rates four schools in San Tan Valley a "7" or higher. Legacy Traditional School, a public charter school, is located in nearby Queen Creek. As with any student in Arizona, families can participate in open enrollment and explore schooling options in other cities.


San Tan Valley is home to a variety of local shops and businesses as well as large chain stores. The nearest shopping center to San Tan Valley is Queen Creek Marketplace in neighboring Queen Creek. Featuring an area of more than one million square-feet, Queen Creek Marketplace is host to approximately 40 shops and a variety of dining options. In addition, the Marketplace is also home to a Harkin's Theatres complex.


San Tan Valley is located near many freeways, including Loop 202 in the Phoenix metropolitan area, U.S. Highways 79 and 87, and Interstate 10. North of San Tan Valley is Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, a busy commercial-aviation regional hub airport located in South Mesa. An hour to the northeast of San Tan Valley is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. No public transportation currently exists in San Tan Valley.


In 2010, San Tan Valley's population was 81,321. The median resident age was 28.2 years old, much lower than Arizona's median of 36 years. The estimated median household income was $49,086 which was slightly higher than the state's median of $47,826. The median property value was $112,366, lower than Arizona's median of $151,500.


San Tan Valley is known as a commuter town since many of its residents work in the Phoenix metro area, particularly in the East Valley. Indeed, San Tan Valley is just a half an hour commute away from Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert and the numerous major corporations located in those cities and towns. A small sampling of some of the largest employers in the East Valley includes Banner Health Systems, Boeing, Intel, Bank of America, GoDaddy and Orbital Sciences Corporation.


San Tan Valley is a hotbed for those who enjoy the great Sonoran outdoors. In San Tan Valley, you're never far from a hiking trail or a beautiful view of Arizona's famous desert vistas. In addition to the San Tan Mountains, the Goldmine and Superstition Mountains are also nearby. San Tan Valley is also a great place for horse-lovers, as the nearby Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre offers a myriad of events including jumping, barrel-racing, roping and more.


Located in San Tan Valley, Banner Ironwood Medical Center features full emergency room services, general surgery, heart care, an intensive care unit and an extensive range of additional medical services. For primary care physicians, there is a Banner Health Clinic located in San Tan Valley. In addition, San Tan Valley is just a freeway's drive away from the world-class healthcare services offered throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.
