Founded in 1917, Goodyear is one of the up-and-coming hot spots in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Because Goodyear is only 20 miles away from downtown Phoenix, it offers all the amenities of a small community with all the cultural advantages that a cosmopolitan city like Phoenix has to offer. The growing city, which covers an area of approximately 200 square miles, has won several recent awards including the prestigious All-America City award given by the National Civic League.

To sum it up, Goodyear features a blend of metropolitan amenities packaged with warm and friendly suburban hospitality, a sentiment reflected in the fact that, according to the Citizen Satisfaction Survey, over 90 percent of Goodyear residents feel that it is both a safe and excellent place to live.

School Report Card

Goodyear is served by six public school districts: four are elementary level (Avondale, Liberty, Litchfield and Mobile) and two are high school level (Agua Fria Union High and Buckeye Union High). As rated by, several schools in Goodyear rated either an 8 or 9, with 10 being the highest score. They were: Palm Valley Elementary School (9), Western Sky Middle School (9), Estrella Mountain Elementary School (8) and Mabel Padgett Elementary School (8).

Franklin Pierce University is the city's main institution of higher learning, offering both on-site and online options for learning.


Plenty of shopping opportunities exist in Goodyear, from expansive "power centers" to intimate upscale boutiques. Along with the popular Palm Valley Shopping Center, Goodyear will be home to the future Estrella Falls Mall; it will be the largest indoor-shopping mall in the Southwest Valley with more than 1.1 million square-feet of specialty shops, high-end retailers and a variety of dining venues. Expected to open in summer of 2016, the first phase will boast a 78,000-square-foot, 16-screen multiplex Harkins Theatre.


Goodyear enjoys quick access to I-10, which serves as a connector to Loop 101, Loop 202, Loop 303 and I-17, putting the entire Phoenix metro area within an easy drive's reach. Phoenix Goodyear Airport offers general aviation services that are capable of handling large cargo planes as well as corporate and private aircraft, while Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is approximately 20 minutes away.

In the future, Goodyear residents can look to a five-mile segment of Loop 303 that will head through one of the city's emerging jobs corridors south of I-10.


Goodyear was founded in 1917, incorporated in 1946 and became a city in 1985. The 190-square-mile city boasts a population of nearly 74,000 and is expected to grow to more than 100,000 residents by 2020.

With a median household income of approximately $70,000, the median age of residents in Goodyear is 38.4, with nearly 42 percent in their prime working years of ages 25 to 54. In 2014, Goodyear ranked as the sixth-fastest growing city in America, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.


One of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., Goodyear is home to a number of large employers, including West Valley Hospital, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Macy's-Bloomingdale's fulfillment center, fulfillment center and a Sub-Zero/Wolf manufacturing facility. Numerous smaller business, with employment numbers ranging from less than 50 to 500 -- in fields as diverse as food services, aviation and aerospace -- also call Goodyear home.

In addition, according to Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord, Goodyear has a growing medical corridor and residents should expect to see development in additional industries including aviation/aerospace, advanced manufacturing and more.


One of the recreational highlights of Goodyear is Goodyear Ballpark, Spring Training home for Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. Located on a four-acre parcel, the stadium features 8,000 stadium seats, 1,500 berm seats, six suites and a 500-seat party deck area.

When residents and visitors aren't watching the 'boys of summer', they can often be found at one of the city's 18 parks or enjoying the city's approximately 47 miles of multi-use paved trails and equestrian multi-use unpaved trails. In addition, Goodyear's Parks and Recreation Department offers an abundance of facilities including swimming pools, dog parks and a BMX park.


Residents of Goodyear enjoy easy access to West Valley Hospital which is an Accredited Chest Pain Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center and a Primary Stroke Center. In addition, Cancer Treatment Centers of America opened its fourth location in Goodyear and provides comprehensive cancer treatments. The Palm Valley Medical Campus is a 102,500-square-foot integrated medical services facility (the first of four planned for the campus) which will be home to almost 1 million square-feet of medical facilities at build-out.
